November Press Updates: Poetry Pre-Orders, Events, & More!
Chapbook submissions are closing soon!
Sagittarius Season is upon us and as always we have ton of exciting things happening at Abode!
TOY SOLDIERS by MICHAEL CHANG, out January 1st
Pre-orders are open for our next poetry chapbook, TOY SOLDIERS by MICHAEL CHANG!
MICHAEL CHANG's poetry chapbook TOY SOLDIERS queers language and culture to critique 21st century living. Alert to the sins and sorrows of our indignant time, driven by fast lingo, tight lines, and erotic vitality, TOY SOLDIERS presses all the relevant and irreverent buttons with cunning bravado. Pleasure is ever allied to pain but "a brief sight of beauty/can serve as a source of renewable energy." Amen. These poems keep it, and us, true.
We’re so excited to start the new year with a brand new poetry collection. Copies will ship as soon as January 1st!

Chapbook Submissions - open until November 30th
Our second reading period ends in just one week! We have absolutely loved reading all of the wonderful manuscripts you’ve sent our way so far. If you’re still wanting to send us your chapbook, check out what we’re looking for:
Send us your prose, poetry, and everything in between. For poetry, send up to 30 pages. For prose and hybrid, send up to 60 pages.
This year, we are also asking for a brief artist statement so we can get to know the artist behind the book. You can learn more about our press values here.
Abode not only prioritizes marginalized voices but is also run by marginalized writers and editors. We understand how important it is to level the playing field. Submission fees are on a sliding scale with options ranging from $5 to $20. Fee waivers for queer/trans writers of color are available!
Our full guidelines can be found here.
Workshop Proposals - open until January 4th
Community workshops are a staple of the work we do at Abode. We’re so excited to announce that we’re accepting proposals for our 2025 lineup!
We love themes of identity, origin, and culture, and workshops that take risks, defy genre and subvert our expectations. We especially love to work with instructors who belong to BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities and/or who are based in the South.
You can find more details and send your proposal here!
