February Press Updates: Pre-orders Open!
Pre-order info for Quererme En La Luz by Farrah Fang, AWP updates, & more
What a busy month for Abode— and it’s not over yet!
Pre-order Quererme En La Luz!
We launched pre-orders for our first chapbook, Quererme En La Luz by Farrah Fang!
Quererme En La Luz is an unapologetic journey, a spiritual philosophy, a militant manifesto, a harmonious and chaotic retelling of the author’s experiences as a trans Latina navigating the gulf coast of Texas. This collection of poetry reflects the fluid divinity essential to trans womanhood while remaining grounded to the perceivable world and all its dangers, its trite wonders too.
We love this incredible poetry collection, and we know you will, too. You can check out one of Farrah’s poems from Quererme En La Luz in Raspa Magazine here.
Upcoming Event - AfroLatinx Life & Writing Symposium, Texas A&M, 2/29
We are so excited to table and read during Texas A&M’s AfroLatinx Life & Writing Symposium next week! If you see us there, say hi!
Workshops
At Abode, we believe offering affordable workshops is important so all writers can have access to writing tools and community engagement. All of our workshops are virtual and are offered on a sliding scale, starting at $10.
Join us next month for Still We Rise: Poems as Political Anthems with Sofía Aguilar, Wednesday March 30th at 1pm CST.
In this generative writing workshop, Sofía Aguilar will facilitate a group-led reading and discussion of political poetry poems from revolutionary thinkers and writers, then offer a series of questions as prompts for attendees to create their own politically driven poem.
Our first workshop of the year, The Art of Writing… About the Art of Writing, was a blast— thank you to everyone who joined us!
